Links opened from other applications
Browser protection applies to Windows HTTP and HTTPS links. This includes links clicked in chat, collaboration, email, document, and productivity applications.

Open Browser Protection
Launch OpenWithGuard and select Browser Protection in the sidebar. The page shows the current Windows default and the guarded browser.
Select from Registered browsers
Choose the browser you want Windows to use. Your choice is saved and protected immediately. If it is missing, select Scan again. You can also choose an EXE, but it must have a valid registration for both HTTP and HTTPS.
If Windows currently uses different handlers for HTTP and HTTPS, choose a browser registered for both protocols.
Pause or resume
Select Pause protection to stop temporarily. When paused, select a browser again to resume protection; the choice is saved immediately.
Open a link from another app
Click a normal web link in WeChat, QQ, Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, or another application. Windows should route the link to the browser you selected.
If another program later changes the HTTP or HTTPS association, OpenWithGuard keeps the protected browser choice visible and restores it while protection is active.
